Why is Dapoli beach a popular tourist destination in Maharashtra?

Dapoli beach is a popular tourist destination along the Konkan coast of Maharashtra for several reasons, the top being its pristine beaches, pleasant climate, and strategic location. Nestled amidst the Sahyadri Mountains, it is an ideal getaway for people staying in Mumbai and Pune.

Murud beach in Dapoli, Maharashtra

With a stunning coastline stretching as far as 50 kilometers, Dapoli is dotted with beautiful beaches known for their golden sands and blue waters. In this blog, I will share my experience of exploring the serene beaches of Dapoli. I visited Murud beach and Karde beach during my return trip from our village in Konkan.

Best time to visit Dapoli beach

The best time to visit Dapoli is during the monsoon season, which occurs between June and September. The climate during this period is cool, making it an ideal time to plan your visit. We visited in the summer season, which is an off-season due to the hot days. But we were surprised to see the beach crowded with people. Nonetheless, winters and monsoons are regarded as the best time to visit Dapoli, when the weather is more favorable and comfortable for exploration.

Things to do in Dapoli beach

Dapoli is renowned for its adventure activities, such as water sports, river rafting, and trekking. If you are fortunate, you may even spot dolphins. Unfortunately, I missed the chance to see them by just a day. The small food stalls along the beachside confirmed that dolphins were visible the day before my visit.

In addition to adventure activities, Dapoli also holds historical significance as it served as a military camp in the past. History enthusiasts can explore forts like Suvarnadurg and Kanakdurg. Moreover, there are religious places to visit as well.

Which beach is best for water sports Dapoli?

Murud beach is a well-known beach in Dapoli that offers breath-taking views of the sun, sand, and sea. It is a must-visit destination for sports and adventure activities. At Murud beach, you can indulge in thrilling water sports such as parasailing, banana boat rides, and more. It is even possible to book an early morning boat ride for dolphin spotting. Remember to bring your binoculars and follow the instructions of the host to increase your chances of spotting these exotic creatures.

Although we missed the opportunity to spot dolphins, we still enjoyed exploring this beach. Despite the crowds, there were several activities to engage in, including cart rides, camel rides, and bicycle riding. I found the cleanliness of the beach to be lacking, partly due to the allowance of vehicles on the beach, which contributed to the chaos. However, the children in our group had a fun time playing in the water, while I was captivated by the mesmerizing sunset. After the calming sunset, we treated ourselves to hot snacks at the food stalls located right on the beach. From hot Maggi and omelettes to tea, there were various food delicacies available. Additionally, you can also find affordable beachwear and sand toys for sale at nearby shops.

Where to stay in Dapoli?

If you are traveling to Dapoli with your family and have kids in your group, Murud beach is an ideal place to stay. There are several accommodation options available right on the beach. However, it is important to be cautious about the sanitation conditions. Unfortunately, most resorts near Murud beach in Dapoli are not well-maintained, and the washrooms had unpleasant stench. Despite the poor conditions, the room prices were high.

During our visit, as we hadn’t pre-booked, we were mostly offered non-AC rooms in the scorching heat of over 40 degrees Celsius, and to our disappointment, these rooms were also filthy. After an hour of searching, we finally found the best resort in Dapoli, Yashraj Beach Resort, which provided us with a more satisfactory stay. If you do research and pre-book online, you might find good accommodation options.

Yashraj beach resort Dapoli – Review

Yashraj Beach Resort is a fantastic property situated near Murud Beach in Dapoli. It offers a range of amenities including a restaurant and a swimming pool. Personally, what stood out to me the most about the resort was its cleanliness and the availability of affordable AC rooms, priced at around 2,500 rupees per night. The rooms are equipped with smart TVs and have hot water facilities. They are also well-ventilated and feature balconies, providing a comfortable stay for families.

The restaurant at the resort serves vegetarian food of excellent quality. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and breakfast there, and the service was satisfactory.

While Yashraj Beach Resort is a short walk, approximately 7-10 minutes, away from the beach, the cleanliness and quality of the rooms make it a preferable choice compared to the resorts located on the beach.

Local cuisine of Dapoli beach

If you are a seafood lover, Dapoli is a true seafood paradise. Being located on the Konkan coast, you will come across numerous restaurants that serve delicious fresh seafood thalis. The food is delectable, and most of these restaurants also offer modak, a traditional sweet dish, on their menus. Even for vegetarians, there are plenty of food options available.

However, it is important to note that not all restaurants maintain the same standards. Along the beach, you will find a variety of restaurants, some of which are slightly pricey while others lack hygiene. Before deciding to dine in any restaurant, it is advisable to peek into the kitchen area to assess the cleanliness and make an informed decision.

Final words on Dapoli beach

Weekend getaways from Mumbai and Pune to Dapoli beach is a perfect getaway to enjoy the charm of rainy season. Dapoli offers a perfect blend of mountains and beach. With abundance of natural beauty, diverse attractions, and adventure activities, Dapoli is the most sought-after destination for tourists in Maharashtra.

Mumbai monsoon is famous for being filmy and romantic, just like scenes straight out of a Bollywood movie. There are many places you can visit in Mumbai to enjoy the famous Mumbai monsoon, such as Marine Drive, the Gateway of India, Juhu Beach, and more. However, if you are willing to travel a few hours away from the city, you can explore mesmerizing hill stations and waterfalls that are unparalleled in nature’s beauty. So, if you’re searching for places to visit near Mumbai in monsoon for an upcoming long weekend, here are the ones that have stolen my heart.

Igatpuri tops my list as the best monsoon destination in Maharashtra. I have visited this place on several occasions, during different seasons, but the monsoons here are my favorite. The lush greenery of the Western Ghats and the beautiful waterfalls make it an ideal destination to be explored during the rainy season. If there’s one place where you can truly experience the magic of the monsoon, it’s in Matheran. This quaint hill station offers mesmerizing views of waterfalls, forests, and scenic hills. It is Asia’s only automobile-free hill station and hence my favorite place to visit, especially in monsoons. Every corner of this hill station paints a surreal picture, as if it’s straight out of a Bollywood movie. Every time I visit Matheran, I fall in love with the foggy climate, which is at its peak during the monsoon in August. While you may not be able to enjoy strawberry picking during this time, there are plenty of other treats that make up for it. The mesmerizing greenery and waterfalls will tempt you to trek to beautiful spots.

Nevertheless, the beauty of this charming hill station is best experienced in the monsoon. There are several spots that offer breathtaking views of the lush green mountains, and there are also numerous trekking destinations for enthusiasts. If you’re short on time but still want a quick monsoon escapade, I recommend heading to Lonavala. It’s just an hour away from Navi Mumbai, making it a perfect spot to visit during the rainy season. Club Mahindra Lonavala is my absolute favorite resort, and I have visited it many times.

A day trip to Devgad Beach & Windmill Garden

Devgad beach and windmill garden
Exploring the picturesque Devgad beach and windmill garden

Devgad Beach is a pristine white sand beach situated in the beautiful town of Devgad in the Sindhudurg district. Devgad, famous for its Alphonso mangoes, is bestowed with natural beauty. In recent years, Devgad Beach has become quite popular with tourists in search of clean beaches and less crowded destinations.

Devgad-beach-malvan
Devgad beach in Malvan

Last week, my family and I visited our village in Rajapur, and that’s when I got the opportunity to explore this awesome beach. For me, the best highlight of this beach was the windmills that dot the skyline and add an intrinsic beauty to the shores.

A day trip to Devgad Beach is pure relaxation amid the lap of nature, clean waters, and the marvelous sight of windmills. Let us see the things you can explore here.

Devgad Beach, Ratnagiri

Located in the Konkan region of Maharashtra, this beach is more crowded during summer holidays as the tradition of visiting villages during school vacations is common in India. En route to this beach, we halted at Salaskar Chai, a famous tea franchise in this part of the town.

The beach is close to the Devgad bus stand, and the road leading up to it is well-maintained too. The moment I stepped onto this beach, I felt relief. The scorching heat and the over one-hour car drive to reach here were worth every minute. The beach is clean and paints a picture straight out of a wallpaper. The windmills that stand tall bordering the scenic beach are something I was awed to look at.

Don’t miss the breathtaking sunset to witness nature’s magnificent display of colors.

Devgad Windmill Garden

At a walking distance from Devgad Beach lies the one-of-its-kind windmill garden. We took the steps leading up to the garden from where the sunset view was mesmerizing. I was watching such huge windmills from so close for the first time in my life, and I could not take my eyes off them.

windmill garden, devgad ratnagiri

While there was a huge crowd here, even on a Tuesday, it didn’t deter our enthusiasm. The wait to click a perfect picture with the windmills and a heart shaped installation, as the sunset in the background. I mean, how many times in life does one experience this?

The entry point to this garden is beautiful too. There are no entry fees to visit the Devgad Windmill Garden. Make sure you reach here in time to catch the sunset that paints a beautiful picture of the beach and myriad colors in the sky.

Don’t forget to gorge on Bhelpuri and Golgappas in this garden. They were tasty and the shops were hygienic. There is a restroom here, but it was not clean.

You can also visit the historic Devgad Fort, situated a short trek from the beach. Unfortunately, it was getting dark, and we didn’t have the time to embark on this journey. But there’s always a next time.

Final words

Devgad beach is one of the best beaches in Malvan. So, if you are visiting your village, take the opportunity to explore this beach located on the Arabian sea coast. There are a few restaurants close to the beach where you can enjoy the flavors of authentic Malvani cuisine. The parking near the beach is ample.

A day trip to Devgad Beach and Windmill Garden promises a memorable experience and an unforgettable view of the sun and sky and everything that lies within.

Hotel Marine Plaza Mumbai: Staycation at Luxurious Seafront Hotel

Hotel Marine Plaza Mumbai
Hotel Marine Plaza Mumbai

Hotel Marine Plaza Mumbai, a 5-star luxury hotel located next to Marine Drive, was a dream stay for me. It had been a while since I was searching for a staycation in Mumbai, and what better place than a hotel offering awe-inspiring views of the Arabian Sea.

Marine drive view from Marine plaza hotel

There were numerous room options available at Hotel Marine Plaza, and we had booked an executive suite. The room was spacious, comfortable, and luxurious. However, it was not sea-facing. We booked via the instant booking option on the Club Mahindra app, and apparently, members are not offered sea-facing rooms. But you can easily book a Marine Drive-facing room from online travel websites.

What is the check in and check-out time of Hotel Marine Plaza Mumbai?

The check-in time is 2 pm, and the check-out time is 12 pm. However, depending on availability, they do offer early check-ins. We arrived at the hotel at 11:30 am, and by 12 pm, we were in our room, an executive suite partially sea-facing.

Executive suite at hotel marine plaza mumbai

This boutique hotel can best be described as a compact hotel, but the rooms are spacious and artfully decorated. The brownie point is, of course, its strategic location right next to the Queen’s Necklace. The iconic Gateway of India is also within walking distance.

What are the amenities at the Marine Plaza Hotel?

  1. They have a rooftop swimming pool where you can enjoy stunning views of the Arabian Sea and the city skyline. For me, this was the only amenity that mattered. It was so wonderful to swim in the rooftop pool, which featured a glass flooring creating an illusion of a larger pool. Although the pool is not huge, it has a depth of about 5 feet. I could comfortably swim here in the afternoon hours as the water was surprisingly not too hot.

  1. There was a fully equipped fitness center available, but we didn’t get a chance to explore it during our one-night stay. The mesmerizing views kept us busy for the most part.
  2. They offered 24-hour room service and concierge service, but unfortunately, it was not prompt. It took more than one call to get the required assistance.
  3. There were multiple dining options available, including a multi-cuisine restaurant, a rooftop bar, and a coffee shop.

What is price range of Hotel Marine Plaza Mumbai?

The price of the room depends on the choice you make. For the executive suite, we paid around 10k, which included breakfast. The sea-facing rooms come at a premium price. It is advisable to book the hotel room directly by calling the hotel. The receptionist suggested booking directly for a better price point.

How is the breakfast buffet at the Bayview Restaurant in Hotel Marine Plaza?

The breakfast spread was extensive, and I am sharing a video here. The best part was the location, enjoying breakfast while gazing at the beautiful sea. What more could I ask for? The food was delicious, with plenty of choices, and the setting was surreal. There were live cooking counters offering dosas, pancakes, and eggs. Bayview Restaurant deserves full points for this.

In the evening, we also enjoyed a round of drinks at the Dome bar rooftop. The setting was like something out of a movie. Here’s a video of it as well. Isn’t it beautiful?

Nearby attractions Nariman Point, Mumbai

Being a Mumbaikar, I had often explored this part of Mumbai. However, since we were spending a night here, we decided to explore the nearby attractions and cafes.

  1. Our first stop was K. Rustom Ice Cream in Churchgate. It is located less than ten minutes away from Marine Plaza hotel, near Pizza by the Bay. This iconic outlet is one of the oldest in Mumbai. The ice cream was, of course, delicious, and authentic.

K Rustom Icre cream parlor churchgate
K Rustom Icre cream parlor churchgate
  2. Our second stop was Colaba Causeway. We took a taxi from Churchgate station to reach Colaba Causeway, and once there, I got lost in those narrow lanes for hours. If you have cool and affordable shopping on your wish list, you must visit this market. I am sure your pocket will feel lighter after this trip.
  3. Our last stop of the day before we retired to our favorite spot, Marine Drive, was Leopold Café and Café Mondegar. We visited both cafes, but both were overcrowded beyond their capacity. Eventually, we settled for Leopold Café. The food was average, and the service was below average. If you want to soak in the vibe of the city, it’s worth a visit, but don’t expect much from the food. However, in terms of price, it is on the expensive side.

Final words

The Marine Plaza Hotel offers the perfect blend of luxury, convenience, and comfort. With its strategic location and exceptional in-hotel restaurants, it is the ideal choice for a luxurious stay. Whether you are a Mumbaikar or simply love visiting Marine Drive, you must indulge in this experience at least once.

Truly, Mumbai is a city that never sleeps. Even at 2 am in the night, Marine Drive was bustling with people enjoying the time of their lives. And in the morning, fitness enthusiasts and cyclists lined up along Marine Drive to enjoy the fresh air and seaside view. It was wonderful to end our day and start it at Marine Drive, thanks to Marine the Plaza Hotel Mumbai. A few years down the road, I might plan another stay here to explore South Mumbai like a local!

Here’s a video of the hotel room and other amenities. Enjoy!

Thane Flamingo boat ride – All you need to know!

Navi Mumbai bird watching paradise
Flamingo sanctuary

Thane Flamingo boat ride starting from Coastal & Marine Biodiversity Centre in Airoli, Navi Mumbai, has become a popular tourist destination in recent years. Thanks to the state-of-the-art Airoli Flamingo Sanctuary, spread across 50 acres of land, it is a complete nature lovers’ paradise.

Thane Creek - Flamingo Boat ride
Navi Mumbai tourist destinations – Thane Creek – Flamingo Boat ride

There are two well-designed museums inside the Airoli Flamingo Sanctuary, exhibiting the importance of mangroves and aquatic life and explaining at length about marine biodiversity.

I have visited the flamingo sanctuary a few times before but unfortunately could never experience the boat ride as it does not operate all year round. However, the flamingo sanctuary is operational throughout the year and can be visited anytime to learn more about these migratory birds and marine biodiversity. Fortunately, this year, I booked the tickets right on time.

Hopefully, these answers below will help you plan and book your flamingo boat safari ride.

Flamingo boat ride
Flamingo boat ride starting from Airoli.

What is the entry fee for Airoli Bird Sanctuary?

The entry fee for Airoli bird sanctuary is Rs. 50 per head for adults and Rs. 25 for children over five years. But if you have pre-booked a boat ride, you don’t have to pay any separate entry fee. The boat ticket includes your right to enter the sanctuary and explore the museums and other attractions within the Airoli bird sanctuary.

Airoli Bird Sanctuary entry fee

What is the best time to visit Flamingo Sanctuary?

Between February and May is the best time to visit the flamingo sanctuary as this is the time when these migratory birds make this creek their abode for a few months.

How much does it cost to book a Thane Flamingo boat ride?

The ticket for the flamingo boat safari at Airoli Creek varies depending on the day you wish to take the boat ride. If you plan to book a ride for a weekday, the ticket per person is Rs. 475. On the weekends, it is Rs. 650 per person. We booked a Sunday early morning ride and enjoyed watching thousands of flamingos in their natural habitat.

What is the best time of day to see Flamingos?

The boat safari timings are decided depending on the high tide. Somedays, the ride is in the morning and some days in the afternoon. No matter the time of the day, you can spot the flamingos, so book your ride as per availability. I embarked on the boat ride in the morning while my friend took the ride at two in the afternoon, but we both could spot flamingos.

How to book a Thane Flamingo boat ride?

Flamingo boat safari booking was the most tedious task. So, depending upon the high tides, the host decides the rides for the next few days. To book your boat safari ride, you have to call on this number: 99876 73737 . If luck is by your side, you might connect in first call itself. My experience was exhausting. After many attempts, one woman answered the call, only to inform that no ticket was available for the weekend. She requested I call back on Monday to inquire about the coming week schedule.

On Monday, I called several times, but no one answered. The next day, someone answered and shared the time slots for the weekend and the number of available seats. Once I confirmed the booking for the 9 am to 10 am slot, she requested a payment on the QR code that she agreed to share on my WhatsApp. Two days went by, but no QR code came. Finally, after a few attempts, I could connect to the number and requested the QR code again. After the payment, she confirmed the booking over a WhatsApp message. Overall, it took a whole lot of coordination for a simple task. I hope they start an online booking service or hire an agency to take care of it.

You can reach them on WhatsApp for inquiries: 99876 73737.

Final words

Did you know why these flamingos migrate to Thane Creek every year?

Well, close to 1.15 lakh flamingos fly to Thane Creek in search of algae found in abundance in the creek. The more they feed on algae, the pinker shade their neck appears. For more such interesting facts and information, watch the video.

The guide who accompanied us shared amazing facts and stories about flamingos. The boat ride was a wonderful experience.

One tip: Don’t forget to carry your binoculars. I forgot this time too. But it would have been great to see them up close. The way these flamingos rest is intriguing too, and something that you can see through binoculars. Standing on one foot, they retract their neck into their wings and sleep peacefully. Of course, the boat takes you close to the flamingos, but it has restrictions too. The engine sound scares them, so the boat does not venture too close to the migratory birds.

Airoli bird sanctuary

After the ride, explore the museums and take a walk on the quaint raised bamboo bridge. It leads to the bird-watching paradise within the creek. From that spot, I could spot many flamingos gracefully dancing in the water.

It was a unit with one bedroom and hall with stairs opening up to the sky. The room was cosy and comfortable, and both rooms had a double bed. We were four of us and could comfortably enjoy our stay here.

The beautiful veranda surrounded by huge mango trees is a sight I can never forget. I have never stayed in an agro resort before and so HmmBrr holds a special place in my heart. Sitting on the charpai bed outside the room, I would gaze at the stars for hours together. The sky was clean and the air, surprisingly cold, for summers. I had the most peaceful sleep here.

Some Of the Property Amenities at Hmmbrr Agro Resort Junnar

  • Indoor Play zone (carrom, chess, TT, etc).
  • Rain dance facility
  • Campfire facility
  • Cow shed (goshala) – my daughter enjoyed spending time at the cowshed the most. She was busy feeding cows and playing with them.

Hmmbrr Agro Resort – Food Review

Within the resort, there is a big dining area where the host serves homely meals. The resort package is such that it offers all-inclusive meals and trust me; the food they serve is delicious and healthy. Made from natural ingredients sourced from local farms and cooked by local women, the meal is simple yet delicious, with the goodness of health. I enjoyed each meal at the resort, especially the variety of chutneys.

Hmmbrr Agro Resort Junnar – Overall review

We spent three nights at this beautiful resort and since it had just opened to guests a few weeks ago, there were hardly any rooms occupied. It was as if we had the whole resort for ourselves. A stroll amidst the beautiful trees were soothing to the mind and soul. It is one place where you can disconnect with the social world and just enjoy the company of the nature. The peace of just walking in these lanes is indescribable.

My family especially my daughter loved her stay here. The best part was the hospitality extended by the host, Chetan Parkhe. At least once a day, he met us to take our feedback. He also shared his story on building this sustainable resort. How he is working towards strengthening his local community, uplifting their living standards by offering them the necessary skills to enhance their livelihood.

He has done a great amount of work in building a cloud kitchen, which also serves food to the resort. He is encouraging local women to up their communication skills and grow the community kitchen to serve more resorts around Junnar. Even the guide who went with us as we explored the diverse landscape of Junnar was a wonderful person and took good care of us.

Final words

Hmmbrr Agro Resort Junnar is a beautiful resort and I highly recommend a stay here. Living amidst a farm and a visit to a cowshed are rare experiences that connects us to our roots. These humble experiences after all makes our life peaceful.

Club Mahindra Sherwood Mahabaleshwar – A Haven of Luxury & Modern Comforts

Club Mahindra Sherwood
A relaxing stay at Club Mahindra Sherwood

Club Mahindra Sherwood resort in Mahabaleshwar was on our wish list since we got a Club Mahindra membership almost a decade ago. Unfortunately, we could not get a booking until recently. Yes, its a popular resort, and its proximity to Mumbai and Pune makes it an even more attractive option. It is an ideal resort to relax and rejuvenate. We enjoyed our stay here. Here’s my experience of our stay at this luxurious five-star property.

Club Mahindra mahabaleshwar
Club Mahindra mahabaleshwar

How to reach Club Mahindra Sherwood Mahabaleshwar?

Club Mahindra Sherwood is located approx. 3 km away from the main Mahabaleshwar market. So, yes, this resort is easily accessible by road, no matter if you wish to travel by car or a luxury sleeper bus. This time, we drove by our car, and it took us around six hours on a weekday to cover the 250-odd kilometers from Navi Mumbai.

We took a halt for lunch at two places, one near Pune, not worth mentioning. The second halt has all the reasons to be mentioned, the top being mouth-watering Modaks. Gandharv Pure Veg on Wai-Surur Rd is about an hour away from Sherwood resort. It is the best place to enjoy pure veg thalis and not to forget the hot and sweet Modaks, a specialty of this restaurant. Since we were stuffed from our previous halt, we ate just the modaks but were bowled by the taste. So much so that on our return journey to Mumbai, we halted at Gandharv Pure Veg again, enjoyed a quality meal, and of course, gorged on the heavenly modaks.

Once you cross Pune, there are several roadside Dhabas where you can halt for lunch. Read the reviews online before stepping into one else you might later regret it as we did.

Which room amenities are available at Club Mahindra Mahabaleshwar Sherwood?

We had booked a 2BHK bungalow for our stay as we were traveling with our extended family. The moment we reached the resort and parked our car outside the bungalow, I fell in love with the property. The bungalow was a perfect blend of luxury and comfort.

The huge hall featured:

  • Two bedrooms with bathrooms
  • Kitchen unit with oven, cutlery, a fridge, and a water purifier.

The bedrooms were cozy and opened up to greens. However, the highlight was the verandah leading from the hall to the outside. It offered for a perfect setting to practice yoga! The tree bark became a hanging spot for the kids of our family. We also enjoyed a bonfire in this area during our last night at the resort.

Moving up the stairs was the master bedroom with an equally big washroom. The second highlight was the balcony of the master bedroom that opened up to infinite greenery. This view was breathtaking, a place where I could sit and perhaps finish my second fiction novel. The vibe of this property is relaxing and rejuvenating. I don’t think words can do justice to describe just how beautiful our bungalow at Club Mahindra Sherwood was.

What Are Some Of The Property Amenities At Club Mahindra Sherwood?

Like most properties of Club Mahindra, here you will find an ample space to spend time in nature. Also, there are several indoor and outdoor games to spend your evenings wonderfully. We took a two-day gaming package that turned out to be a good decision, as kids were playfully busy enjoying innumerable rounds of games at Happy Hub.

Is Club Mahindra Sherwood A Good Place To Stay?

We booked our stay for four nights to just soak in the vibe and relax in the mountains. Towards the end of February, Mahabaleshwar has a pleasant climate, the cold is bearable, and days are cool too. Also, it is the best time to experience strawberry picking experience. So, yes, if you are lucky to book your stay at this five-star property, that too, in the peak season, between December and March, you shouldn’t miss the opportunity.

There is a wonderful place, Green Valley Farm, just five minutes away from the resort where you can enjoy strawberry picking experience.

Club Mahindra Sherwood – Food Review

Club Mahindra Sherwood offers a unique dining experience under the stars. The meal packages are attractive too. Just to give an overall idea, we got a package with buffet breakfast and dinner at around Rs. 1400 per person.

There was a good variety in the breakfast buffet while I found the dinner buffet to be just okay. Overall, the food was not the highlight of our stay here. It was decent, but not something that I will remember this resort to be best for.

Cafe Peter Mahabaleshwar is where we enjoyed a good afternoon meal. Although a pure veg cafe, the food variety, and quality were awesome. Do visit it once to relish the Thai and Korean dishes. It is located near the main market area.

Final Words

Overall, I had a memorable time with my family at Club Mahindra Sherwood. The room is luxurious, the amenities are galore, and the resort is well-located amidst the greens. What more could I have asked for? There is some renovation work going on in the resort, but that did not hamper our experience. Unarguably, this was one of our best holidays with Club Mahindra.

If you have any queries or want to know more about the resort facilities, do comment.

Strawberry picking at Green Valley Farm Mahabaleshwar

Strawberry picking at Mahabaleshwar
Strawberry picking at Mahabaleshwar near Club Mahindra Sherwoods

Strawberry picking at Green Valley Farm Mahabaleshwar is a must-do activity especially if you are spending your holiday at Club Mahindra Sherwood Resort, Mahabaleshwar. Green Valley Farm is situated less than ten minutes from this 5-star Club Mahindra property. Nestled amid an abundance of nature, this is one of the best strawberry farms in Mahabaleshwar. Here, along with strawberries, you will also find exotic vegetables. Of course, you can pick your own strawberry and buy from the farm. But if you wish to buy exotic vegetables too, the host will pick them up for you.

Green Valley Farm, Mahabaleshwar
Green Valley Farm Mahabaleshwar strawberry picking

What makes Mahabaleshwar synonymous with strawberries is the climate that makes strawberry farming favorable in this region. For strawberries to bloom, it requires a cool and dry climate, as the fruit thrives in temperatures between 18 and 25 degrees Celsius. As Panchgani and Mahabaleshwar have favorable climatic conditions, unlike most of India where it’s hot & humid, approx. 5000 hectares of land here is cultivated with strawberries.

When to visit Mahabaleshwar?

If you are traveling to Mahabaleshwar to experience the strawberry season, then the best time to visit is between December & February. We visited towards the end of February and could pick the strawberries and enjoy the strawberry festival too, usually hosted in this region between March and April. The mornings were cool and since the farm was neighboring our resort, we visited early to enjoy the experience while the climate was good.

Our experience of strawberry picking at Green Valley Farm Mahabaleshwar

Green Valley Strawberry Farm Mahabaleshwar located near Club Mahindra Sherwood resort is a picturesque farm, almost like a painting, standing quietly amidst the hills. The narrow pathway leading to the farm is not well-maintained, but you can take your car to the farm, albeit at a slow speed.

The resort host was welcoming, and the farm was huge featuring strawberries and exotic vegetables. Here, you will find lettuce, purple cabbage, parsley, kale, Iceberg lettuce, brussels sprout, basil, turnip, etc. At the entry itself, there is a counter to collect the basket – Rs. 100 per basket. There is just one rule you need to remember – you must buy all the strawberries that you pick. Since our group included kids, they were elated running around the well-maintained farm picking up strawberries.

Green Valley Farm Mahabaleshwar Cost

They sell strawberries at a little high rate, i.e., Rs. 270 per kilo as compared to what the local vendors were selling, i.e., around 170 a kg. After a brief discussion, the host informed us that these strawberries are naturally grown. We understood the ‘organic’ label always demands a high rate.

Nevertheless, taking two baskets we entered the organized farm and our kids started picking strawberries. Of course, the host helped them at the start how to identify the best ones.

Few tips that can help you pick strawberries like a pro:

  • Pick firm and red strawberries.
  • Use the scissor provided along with the basket to cut the strawberry.
  • Don’t fixate on the size, it does not affect the sweetness.
  • Lastly, be mindful of your steps, do not step on the plant as they are fragile.

It’s best to contact them first before heading to the farm. The host answers the call graciously and helps with the direction. Don’t forget to buy exotic vegetables too, the quality is the best and you won’t find such vegetables easily in the local market.

Jaylos Lake Resort – The Luxurious Tent Resort In Igatpuri

1
Travel blogger
Indian Travel blogger

Jaylos Lake Resort Igatpuri, situated on the hillside, approx. Half an hour from the main city of Igatpuri is a stunning luxurious tent resort in the arms of nature. Igatpuri is a well-known hill station in Maharashtra, in the Nashik district. Lush greens welcome you the moment you step into the vicinity of the resort. A few more steps and what I saw stunned me beyond words. This landscape is what you will see here, and that’s a really convincing reason to book your visit to Jaylos Lake resort. But, of course, there are a few downsides too that you will soon find out.

Jaylos Lake Resort Igatpuri

How To Get To Jaylos Lake Resort Igatpuri?

Jaylos resort Igatpuri address is confusing, even for Google maps. From the Mumbai – Nashik highway, it is quite a detour towards a hilly road that is hardly maintained. Moreover, the last stretch leading up to the resort is deserted and has no proper roads. Therefore, it’s best to book your stay at this resort if you have a personal vehicle.

Address: Jaylos Resort Igatpuri Address: 351 Somaj road Waghera, Igatpuri 422403

Phone: 099-608-111-41

Check-In Time: 01:00 PM; Check-out time: 11:00 AM.

What Are Some Of The Property Amenities At Jaylos Lake Resort Igatpuri?

Jaylos Lake Resort Tent Room

Jaylos Lake Resort features tents with basic facilities like air conditioning, TV, electric kettle, etc. Managed by the homeowners who reside in a bungalow within the same premises, the staff is friendly and cooperative. Unlike the usual camping tents, the tent rooms at this resort are sturdy and mounted on wooden flooring.

Some Of The Top Property Amenities At Jaylos Resort Igatpuri Are:

  • Swimming Pool
  • Multi-Cuisine Restaurant
  • Games Like Badminton, Archery, Etc.

Is Jaylos Lake Resort Igatpuri A Good Place To Stay?

Yes, it is a beautiful place to stay, especially if you love being surrounded by the abundance of nature. Although the tent rooms might appear a little small, they are cozy and feature all the amenities for a comfortable stay. The cost might seem a little high, considering they offer just the basic amenities, but for me, the peaceful surroundings did the trick.

Jaylos Igatpuri

The small balcony from the room opened up a view that lasted infinity. Therefore, although the cost is a little high and reaching here is tedious, I would highly recommend a stay at the beautiful resort bestowed with pure nature.

Jaylos Lake Resort Igatpuri – Food Review

The multi-cuisine restaurant located inside the resort premises serves scrumptious vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals. The food quality was amazing, and the service was quick too. Since there were no restaurants around and braving to drive the pathetic roads was out of the question, we had all our meals inside the resort, but we were not disappointed by the food. They provided a breakfast buffet as complementary, and it was the saving grace, as the food was expensive otherwise.

Final Words

Picturesque Jaylos Lake Resort

Jaylos lake resort Nashik is a wonderful resort with a few downsides. I loved the ambiance, the nearby farms, and flora and fauna at this resort. For kids, there is ample space to run and explore. The best feature, of course, is the swimming pool. It is well-maintained and provides a breathtaking view. Visit this Igatpuri resort once to soothe your soul and just feel one with nature.

We were searching for a one-day picnic resort near Igatpuri on our way back from seeking darshan at Shirdi. However, since we enjoyed our stay here, we stretched it to a two-night stay at Jaylos.

Here’s the walk-through of this beautiful resort.

If you are traveling back from Igatpuri to Mumbai, plan your checkout such that you can visit the most popular nearby destination, Global Vipassana Pagoda. The best time to visit Igatpuri is monsoon. I visited the Jaylos Resort towards the end of the summer season and was bowled over by the beautiful weather.

Stay tuned as I share more places to travel in India and more reviews of the various resorts that become part of my Journey in exploring India, raw & rugged.
