Matheran hill station tops my list. Why? Thick forests, scenic hills, abundant nature, and most importantly, Asia’s only automobile-free hill station. Do you need more reasons to plan a trip to Matheran. This quaint hill station, near Karjat in Maharashtra is my personal favourite place, during monsoons. In the rainy season, this place looks like a scene straight out of a Bollywood movie.

A popular weekend getaway for people staying in Mumbai and Pune, it is well-connected via road and rail transport. Imagine waking up amidst misty tea plantations? As dreamy as it sounds, Munnar is a perfect destination to explore during monsoons. In the month of September, I visited this place, and I was mesmerized by nature’s beauty. The light rains, the foggy weather, and the pristine waterfalls, you will fall in love with it. The rains are usually light and hence it makes up for a perfect setting to explore the waterfalls, dams and tea and coffee plantation in Munnar.
